Owl-O-Ween Cookies

  • For this fun Halloween treat, I took my favorite little owl cookies and adapted them, using orange Halloween Oreos and candy corn. Take these spooky little hooters to your Halloween party or wrap them individually.

    Owl-O-Ween Cookies

The best thing about these cute hoot cookies is that you only need 5 “ingredients” to make them. And if you choose to use store bought sugar cookies, there is no cooking involved. If you would like a simple sugar cookie recipe, you can use this one.

To make the owl cookies like I did, here is what you will need.

    Owl-O-Ween Cookies
adapted from my Wise Ol’ Owl Cookies, originally adapted from In katrina’s kitchen
Sugar cookies (store bought or homemade)
    Chocolate frosting
    Halloween Oreo cookies
    Almond Joy Drops
    Candy Corn

Frost the flat side of the cookie with frosting. Twist Oreo’s apart and place the back side down, cream side up for the large part of the eyes. For the small part of the eyes, put a dab of frosting on the back of an Almond Joy drop, and place in desired spot. With the remaining half of the Oreo, cut in half and use for eye brows. Last, put a Candy Corn where you want the nose.

Here are some alternatives for ingredients:
Big part of eye: York Peppermint Patties, Other sandwich cookies
Small part of eye: M&Ms, Junior Mints, Chocolate covered espresso beans, white chocolate chips
Nose: Indian Corn, M&M’s, white chocolate chips, butter scotch chips, nuts
    Head: Whoopie Pies, Cupcakes

By the way, if you are a fellow owl lover, head over to My Owl Barn for other sweet treats, printables, freebies, gift ideas and DIY stuff!

    If you’re an OSU Cowboy or Cowgirl like me, these orange and black cookies would be fun to take to a tailgate! {Need more tailgating ideas? Check out these orange and black football whoopie pies!}

If you are hosting a party and want a fun display for your owl cookies, grab a few twigs from outside and make a tree display on the table.

Or have the kids help you spell out Halloween words.
